![]() ![]() You’ll see a vent shaft hanging from the ceiling to the right. Leave the room and directly ahead of you will be a reception desk with large Morin Solutions containers around it. On the floor will be Document: Resignation of Waylon Park. Follow him into the next room and enter the room to the right of the Exit door. As you continue on, you’ll see someone run to your right. Run down the corridor to the previously locked door to enter an airlock. Film the scene through the window for Note: The Doctors are Sick. Make sure to equip your camera here and press the button on the desk in front of you. ![]() Head left and follow the corridor (note the locked door on the left, half way down) to the end to enter a room with a large window. Continue through the rooms and you’ll enter another corridor. Push the obstruction out of the way of the door and leave. Continue onwards through the vent shaft until, after a couple of corners, you drop down into a dark room. Make sure to film this conversation to receive Note: A radio in the Prison. Crawl forward and take the first left to find a vent overlooking a scene below. Up in the corner of this room will be a vent. Flick your night vision on and run through the rooms until you’re safe. Directly ahead of you will be a guy sat in a chair – he will attack you, so quickly run past him and into the door on the right. Once the session is complete, the guy to the right of the table will move out of the way, allowing you to leave through another door. Continue on and head through the door at the end of the corridor to enter a ‘therapy session’. The first room on your right will contain a lot of blood, but also a battery. Head back out and continue on, past the computer. In the next room, turn right into the bathroom to find a battery on a trolley. Remember to turn off the night vision to save on battery power. Soon, the door to your cell will be opened. Walk forward and grab the camera to automatically receive Note: If I Die. Seriously I kinda think that someone at Red Barrels figured that now they had made their money with the base game they might as well just go and put in almost anything they could think of in the DLC just see how far they could push ESRB.Soon, you’ll be freed from your chair. Its very scary and a great way to kill a few hours.ĭisclaimer: Just like vanilla Outlast, Whistleblower is rated M by the ESRB (although I think it walks the line between M and AO) and contains some disturbing shit. ![]() Whistleblower was a very good experience and I strongly recommend it to anyone who liked Outlast. They did do one thing two thirds of the way through that did change up the game quite a bit and I don’t want to spoil anything so I’m just going to say it’s simple, annoying, brilliant, and terrifying. The gameplay is still great and it is still horrifying. The gameplay was on the most part a copy paste of the base game’s which I didn’t really mind because Outlast has great gameplay. The story does suffer a little bit for it, but at least it doesn’t lose a lot of momentum in the last few minutes like the base game did. The story was nicely done, though it does focus more on Waylan’s personal story and lacks all the big reveals that the base game had. Along the way he picks up a camcorder (the same model as Miles’ which apparently has some sort of super night vision mode that eats up batteries like it’s nobodies business) and uses the same mechanics in the base game to navigate the asylum and look for an exit. Once his corporate douchebag boss finds out that he ratted them out he proceeds to imprison Waylan, but happens and Wayland manages to escape from his cell as Mount Massive descends into chaos. Whistleblower follows the story of Waylan Park, the programmer who sent Miles Upshur the email that sent him to Mount Massive in the first place. It would be easy to just say that it’s just more of the base game, but I believe it’s entitled to a little bit more discussion… … well that, and I don’t think just saying the previous sentence constitutes enough material to make an entirely new article. Having Recently reviewed the independent survival horror game Outlast I figured it would be worth it to spend a little bit of time talking about it’s DLC expansion: Whistleblower. ![]()
